Winter Skin Savers

Cold temperatures have finally arrived in New York and my skin is feeling it. As much as I love winter, I notice a change in my skin as soon as the needle drops, so I switch up my regimen to include more intensely hydrating cleansers and moisturizers. Here are my winter skin saving tips to carry me over into Spring…

When I find that my skin needs a little extra care, I turn to my Facial Cleansing Oil. This emulsifying oil cleanser gentle cleanses, hydrates, and drumroll…removes a full face of makeup.

After cleansing, my skin feels clean and refreshed with a noticeable glow.

Next, I reach for my Replenishing Face Serum. This lightweight sodium hyaluronate gel boosts, moisturizes and plumps up fine lines and wrinkles. It’s the perfect prep for my final skin saving step – Replenishing Face Cream. This rich cream is formulated with vitamins and antioxidants to help skin repair, and it leaves my skin feeling soothed.

Lastly – body care. Dry skin can pop up all over so take the extra time to address dry skin from the neck down. My go to body products are Vitamin B5 Body Moisturizer and Vitamin B5 Hand Treatment. Vitamin B5 is a powerful antioxidant that deeply hydrates and helps boost collagen. I instantly feel nourished and the fatty acid base allows for immediate absorption so I can get dressed without any wait time.

Bring it on, February!

Introducing our new…Drumroll…Clarifying Clay Mask!

I’m so excited for the newest addition to our face category – the Clarifying Clay Mask. I have an oily/problematic skin type, so breakouts for me are inevitable. This gentle and hydrating clay mask uses kaolin clay to draw out impurities, while arnica and witch hazel calm and balance oil production. Personally, I love that afterwards my skin doesn’t feel completely stripped and tight, which is never a good sign. I’ve recently discovered that I have a heavy hand while applying masks, so I give it 10-15 minutes to dry before I then, BUFF IT OFF. That’s right; this guy has pumice in it too, so it serves as a scrub. To paraphrase, we now have an all-in-one Cleanser + Scrub + Deep Pore Cleanse.

It’s obvious why this product fits easily into my regimen, but dry/sensitive skin types can benefit from it as well.

Matthew has sensitive skin, and enjoys this mask’s deep cleanse and hydrating properties.

Pam has dry skin, and uses the masks as a clarifying deep pore cleanse once a month.

Jared has normal/combination skin and loves the balancing aspect of this mask.

Mr. Greenberg just enjoys the luxurious and soothing experience after a long day in the office. (Just kidding, the Clarifying Clay Mask is for human use only.)

Whether it’s from heavy makeup use, intense workouts at the gym, or hot NYC summers, all skin types suffer from congested pores and need a good deep cleanse every once in awhile. Thanks to the hydrating properties like sunflower extract, your skin will feel supple and soft.

How do you gel?

How do you gel?

That is the question…

A modern interpretation of the “old school” styling gel, our Firm Hold Gel complements our hair care assortment for women and men with sensitive skin and scalp concerns. If you are looking for a firm hold with maximum control and sculpting, look no further.

This is ideal for transforming natural texture (i.e. curly to straight) or sculpting in a shape.

We asked our staff how they use it and what they love about it…

Sarah G.

My hair is usually very straight, but that changes when NYC humidity kicks in. The Firm Hold Gel tames the frizz and adds volume without drying my processed locks. I work a quarter-sized amount through dry hair, and I am good to go for the entire day.

I have a lot of hair, so I apply a liberal amount in three sections after towel blotting. I love it because it defines my curls with no crunchy feeling.

I use the Peppermint Shampoo and Cilantro Hair Conditioner in the shower, leaving the Cilantro Hair Conditioner in for texture.  I put in the Firm Hold Gel when I still have a wet head and then blow dry my hair to a light dampness.  I then comb my hair and head out for the day – 12 hours later, my hair’s still in place.

The Firm Hold Gel however gives me a more polished look for when I’m dressed up formally and am looking for that all day hold with a healthy shine. After washing my hair, I towel it dry but leave it slightly damp. Then I’ll run a little over a dime sized amount of the gel and work it through my hair. I’ll also blow dry everything in place if necessary.
