The holidays are our favorite time of the year.  We get to spend quality time with our family and our rescued pug Mr. Greenberg at our farm house in the Hudson Valley.  Holidays also offer us the pleasure of gift giving.

Since we make our own skincare, we are excited to give it as holiday gifts. Some people shy away from gifting skincare, but with Malin+Goetz it’s easy -each formulas is gentle and created with all skin types in mind, especially sensitive.  Our products are also appropriate for both women and men!  And what’s better than giving the gift of good health and instant gratification?

Our 5-minute Detox Face Mask is just that – a deep pore cleansing, deeply hydrating, brightening mask. Skin glows, radiates and is left balanced.

Another favorite is our Replenishing Face Serum. It’s a moisture booster that hydrates and draws moisture deep in to the skin; really great for this time of year. It can be used alone or paired with your favorite moisturizer (our Vitamin E Face Moisturizer!) for ultimate hydration and a dewy complexion.

Both of the Replenishing Face Serum and Detox Mask can be found in our Deluxe Face Gift Box.

Our Rum Hand Wash and Vitamin B5 Body Lotion also make a great hostess gift.

For the person who has everything, (or at least a head of hair) our Peppermint Shampoo is the perfect substitute for a mundane candy cane. Something sweet without the calories.

And while it’s always better to give than it is to receive, we always appreciate anything chocolate, especially Black Hound Cocoa Dusted truffles.  Hint, hint.

Healthy Summer Skin How – To.

Hot, humid days require a little tinkering to our daily skincare regimens. Cleansing is obviously a must, as well as lightweight hydration. This means drinking a lot of H2O and finding the perfect moisturizer for your skin’s needs. Here are some steps I recommend to keeping your skin clear and radiant during these warmer months…

  1. Water. Lots of it. It’s common knowledge that drinking water is good for you inside and out. We lose a lot of water in warmer temps so it’s a must to take in more and stay hydrated. It also keeps your skin clear and glowing. A little water never hurt anyone.
  2. Cleansing. Healthy skin starts with cleansing. It prevents breakouts, balances and hydrates. This is the prerequisite to moisturizing.
  3. Moisturizing. People tend to shy away from moisturizing in warmer temperatures, because they equate it with oily, greasy skin; however, this is definitely not the case. Skipping this essential step can actually lead to an increase in oil production due to the dryness we are causing.

Here’s what I recommend for glowing summer skin –

  1. Malin+Goetz Grapefruit Face Cleanser. This amino acid based cleanser thoroughly cleanses without stripping or drying, leaving all skin types perfectly balanced. Grapefruit kills bacteria and is a natural astringent, making this a cleanser and toner in one!
  2. Malin+Goetz SPF 30 Face Moisturizer in the am. This lightweight moisturizer hydrates while providing broad spectrum protection. Bonus: it serves as an aftershave for men and a makeup primer for women.
  3. Malin+Goetz Replenishing Face Serum in the pm. This hydrating serum provides a punch of moisturize with a lightweight consistency. We like to describe it as, “a drink of water for the face.” This serum keeps my skin looking dewy and bright year round.

1st MALIN+GOETZ BBQ of Summer 2014

This weekend I attended my first official BBQ of the summer. And while I was merely a guest of a guest, I stretched out on a bench with chilled white wine like I owned the place. New York was blessed with beautiful weather this weekend. It was glorious and it got my wheels spinning to start planning an M+G BBQ! I started gathering the must-haves for our next shindig…

I like to start my summer days with the Vitamin B5 Body Lotion. I can’t stand dry skin and our new Vitamin B5 Body Lotion allows me to hydrate without feeling sticky on these humid New York summer days.

Obviously – M+G SPF 30 Face Moisturizer. What kind of skincare professionals would we be if we didn’t protect our skin as a group?

If you know us at all then you know we’ll definitely cool down with something festive, like sangria.

Here’s my Summer White Sangria Recipe –

Soak peaches, raspberries and strawberries in 1/2 cup honey, ½ cup cognac and ½ cup orange liquor for at least a few hours. Overnight if possible.

Add 2 bottles of reasonably priced white wine. Either pinot grigio or sauvignon blanc.

Add 1 liter of seltzer water.

Serve over ice.

Lastly, we’ll need some good ole fashion games to keep us entertained. Here’s what I’m thinking –

volleyball, Pin the Tail on Mr. Greenberg, and of course… Beer Pong!

Almost forgot, I know what I’m wearing!

Nothing like a tipsy 3-legged race to build the bond between you and your coworkers. Cheers!

Memorial Day Weekend M+G Essentials

I’m so excited to finally have a weekend at home after my recent travels, but that doesn’t mean I’m not taking full advantage of the long Memorial Day weekend. I’m thinking my special homemade BBQ chicken, grilled peaches, and white sangria in the park with some friends and hopefully a patch of shade.

Let’s talk about weekend essentials…

If you are leaving town, our Essential Kit is a must! It’s airplane friendly and ready to go when you are, a 1oz of cleanser+moisturizer for face, body and hair.

Bug Spray. Mosquitoes love my Southern nectar, so I tote my M+G Bug Spray everywhere. It’s 100% natural, repelling bugs with rosemary, citronella, lemongrass and geranium essential oils.

The last one is a no brainer – our SPF30 Face Moisturizer. It is no secret that my porcelain skin burns, so I wear SPF daily. Now that warmer temperatures are here, I will definitely be taking my M+G SPF30 with me on my park days. This oil-free broad spectrum formula absorbs immediately and protects from UVA & UVB rays.

Hope everyone has a safe and fun holiday weekend!

Back to the Windy City.

Last month I found myself back to the Windy City, and it definitely lived up to its name. I traded one snowy tundra for another, but the one thing I gained was that Midwestern sunny disposition. Despite their smiles, Chicagoans as a whole are 100% completely over this winter. Which is a mentality, we New Yorkers, gladly share. I will say that even though those -30 nights cut like a knife, the city and our accounts, welcomed me with open arms. No matter where I was – Barneys, Bloomingdale’s, Haberdash, Smith & Davis, and MildBlend – the willingness to chat and share winter war stories presented itself daily. Considering this trip, we were dealing with a completely different set of temperatures, I talked up how I keep my skin hydrated and fresh thanks to M+G. I was even lucky enough to get some tips in return. This time of year I rely on a few drops of Chamomile Treatment Oil to calm and soothe redness, and then follow it with the Replenishing Face Cream to deeply hydrate and brighten my parched skin. A new tip I took home – incorporate the Chamomile Treatment Oil with the Jojoba Face Scrub to achieve extra hydration + exfoliation.
