Cilantro Hair Conditioner Love Story

I wanted to share my personal story and love affair with the Malin+Goetz Cilantro Hair Conditioner.

Between the years of 2011-2013 I was hair modeling for Vidal Sassoon. As my hair became shorter and shorter it was eventually buzzed for a modern day Great Gatsby cut, I decided to add some fun color. Summer of 2013 I went on tour with my band and began the ritual of bleaching and coloring neon colors almost every week!! By October 2013 my hair had officially DIED. It’s what we in the industry call a “chemical cut”. The breakage and damage was awful. I tried every deep conditioner, vitamin, and treatment I could find. Sadly nothing was working and my hair was a hot mess!

In January 2014 a miracle walked into my life, the Cilantro Hair Conditioner! Gabriel McVay changed the life of my hair by giving me the pro-tip that Cilantro Conditioner could be used as a cleansing conditioner. So I took his advice and only used Gentle Neroli Shampoo once a week, the rest of the week I gently massaged Cilantro Conditioner into my scalp and left on for about one or two mins then rinsed. After only a month everyone took notice. My hair was growing again, shining again and finally able to hold color! Within a few months my hair had changed drastically. My hair stylist asked me last week what I was using and I proudly said Malin+Goetz.

If you have your own hair horror stories, pass them on my message of hope. I posted a picture below of my new healthy hair. :)

Love Grows Where My Rosemary…Body Wash Foams.

If you didn’t already know, Malin+Goetz just released a new body wash – Rosemary! It smells every bit as divine as you can imagine. It’s herbaceous, minty, and just invigorating enough to motivate me to roll out of bed and start my day.

Rosemary doesn’t just smell delicious and take Thanksgiving dinner to a whole new level, it also has some great health benefits –

First, rosemary is antimicrobial, so find solace in knowing you are killing bacteria while sudsing up.

Also, studies have shown that smelling rosemary can improve memory. This little tidbit would have been helpful 10 years ago during finals week, but I somehow powered through. Roll Tide.

On top of possibly sharpening the mind, rosemary is also antiseptic, anti-inflammatory, and very rich in antioxidants. I really cannot think of one bad thing to say about this aromatic herb. It makes sense that it would be our newest body wash – Rosemary Body Wash. Thoroughly cleansing without stripping or drying, this foaming wash permeates my whole bathroom, and washes completely clean leaving no residue.

Whether you are a gym go-er or not, summer brings the heat and I hate to say it, lots of sweat. Unfortunately, acne isn’t just limited to your face. It can appear all over the body and it’s referred to so lovingly as…bacne. Fret not, there are options for all you bacne sufferers and Malin+Goetz has some go to products to help clear up those break outs. Here’s what I suggest to kick bacne once and for all…

Products you can introduce into your daily regimen:

  • Eucalyptus Body Wash. Eucalyptus is naturally antibacterial and known to fight acne. Bonus: It also soothes sore muscles.
  • Vitamin B5 Body Lotion. Hydrating is essential! This lightweight formula uses b5 to boost collagen while salicylic acid can help kill bacteria.

Two-Three times a week treat yourself:

  • Peppermint Body Scrub. Peppermint is a natural antiseptic. This scrub uses bamboo and pumice to exfoliate and help combat eruptions.

Now, go buff that body into perfection!

Healthy Summer Skin How – To.

Hot, humid days require a little tinkering to our daily skincare regimens. Cleansing is obviously a must, as well as lightweight hydration. This means drinking a lot of H2O and finding the perfect moisturizer for your skin’s needs. Here are some steps I recommend to keeping your skin clear and radiant during these warmer months…

  1. Water. Lots of it. It’s common knowledge that drinking water is good for you inside and out. We lose a lot of water in warmer temps so it’s a must to take in more and stay hydrated. It also keeps your skin clear and glowing. A little water never hurt anyone.
  2. Cleansing. Healthy skin starts with cleansing. It prevents breakouts, balances and hydrates. This is the prerequisite to moisturizing.
  3. Moisturizing. People tend to shy away from moisturizing in warmer temperatures, because they equate it with oily, greasy skin; however, this is definitely not the case. Skipping this essential step can actually lead to an increase in oil production due to the dryness we are causing.

Here’s what I recommend for glowing summer skin –

  1. Malin+Goetz Grapefruit Face Cleanser. This amino acid based cleanser thoroughly cleanses without stripping or drying, leaving all skin types perfectly balanced. Grapefruit kills bacteria and is a natural astringent, making this a cleanser and toner in one!
  2. Malin+Goetz SPF 30 Face Moisturizer in the am. This lightweight moisturizer hydrates while providing broad spectrum protection. Bonus: it serves as an aftershave for men and a makeup primer for women.
  3. Malin+Goetz Replenishing Face Serum in the pm. This hydrating serum provides a punch of moisturize with a lightweight consistency. We like to describe it as, “a drink of water for the face.” This serum keeps my skin looking dewy and bright year round.

1st MALIN+GOETZ BBQ of Summer 2014

This weekend I attended my first official BBQ of the summer. And while I was merely a guest of a guest, I stretched out on a bench with chilled white wine like I owned the place. New York was blessed with beautiful weather this weekend. It was glorious and it got my wheels spinning to start planning an M+G BBQ! I started gathering the must-haves for our next shindig…

I like to start my summer days with the Vitamin B5 Body Lotion. I can’t stand dry skin and our new Vitamin B5 Body Lotion allows me to hydrate without feeling sticky on these humid New York summer days.

Obviously – M+G SPF 30 Face Moisturizer. What kind of skincare professionals would we be if we didn’t protect our skin as a group?

If you know us at all then you know we’ll definitely cool down with something festive, like sangria.

Here’s my Summer White Sangria Recipe –

Soak peaches, raspberries and strawberries in 1/2 cup honey, ½ cup cognac and ½ cup orange liquor for at least a few hours. Overnight if possible.

Add 2 bottles of reasonably priced white wine. Either pinot grigio or sauvignon blanc.

Add 1 liter of seltzer water.

Serve over ice.

Lastly, we’ll need some good ole fashion games to keep us entertained. Here’s what I’m thinking –

volleyball, Pin the Tail on Mr. Greenberg, and of course… Beer Pong!

Almost forgot, I know what I’m wearing!

Nothing like a tipsy 3-legged race to build the bond between you and your coworkers. Cheers!
