This weekend I attended my first official BBQ of the summer. And while I was merely a guest of a guest, I stretched out on a bench with chilled white wine like I owned the place. New York was blessed with beautiful weather this weekend. It was glorious and it got my wheels spinning to start planning an M+G BBQ! I started gathering the must-haves for our next shindig…

I like to start my summer days with the Vitamin B5 Body Lotion. I can’t stand dry skin and our new Vitamin B5 Body Lotion allows me to hydrate without feeling sticky on these humid New York summer days.

Obviously – M+G SPF 30 Face Moisturizer. What kind of skincare professionals would we be if we didn’t protect our skin as a group?

If you know us at all then you know we’ll definitely cool down with something festive, like sangria.

Here’s my Summer White Sangria Recipe –

Soak peaches, raspberries and strawberries in 1/2 cup honey, ½ cup cognac and ½ cup orange liquor for at least a few hours. Overnight if possible.

Add 2 bottles of reasonably priced white wine. Either pinot grigio or sauvignon blanc.

Add 1 liter of seltzer water.

Serve over ice.

Lastly, we’ll need some good ole fashion games to keep us entertained. Here’s what I’m thinking –

volleyball, Pin the Tail on Mr. Greenberg, and of course… Beer Pong!

Almost forgot, I know what I’m wearing!

Nothing like a tipsy 3-legged race to build the bond between you and your coworkers. Cheers!

Memorial Day Weekend M+G Essentials

I’m so excited to finally have a weekend at home after my recent travels, but that doesn’t mean I’m not taking full advantage of the long Memorial Day weekend. I’m thinking my special homemade BBQ chicken, grilled peaches, and white sangria in the park with some friends and hopefully a patch of shade.

Let’s talk about weekend essentials…

If you are leaving town, our Essential Kit is a must! It’s airplane friendly and ready to go when you are, a 1oz of cleanser+moisturizer for face, body and hair.

Bug Spray. Mosquitoes love my Southern nectar, so I tote my M+G Bug Spray everywhere. It’s 100% natural, repelling bugs with rosemary, citronella, lemongrass and geranium essential oils.

The last one is a no brainer – our SPF30 Face Moisturizer. It is no secret that my porcelain skin burns, so I wear SPF daily. Now that warmer temperatures are here, I will definitely be taking my M+G SPF30 with me on my park days. This oil-free broad spectrum formula absorbs immediately and protects from UVA & UVB rays.

Hope everyone has a safe and fun holiday weekend!

M+G Down Under

I was recently lucky enough to travel to Australia to train our partner Mecca on all things M+G. Mecca Cosmetica stores house the most sought after brands in color, cosmetics, skincare, bodycare, haircare, and fragrance all under one roof.  MALIN+GOETZ can be found in over 30 Mecca stores in Australia.
It was my first trip down under and I was blown away. Australia is seriously beautiful, seriously big and seriously far away. I visited Melbourne, Brisbane and Sydney and took something from each city. First of all, Aussies are so nice. They welcomed me with open arms and were just as entertained by my accent as I was by theirs.
Here’s a list of my favorite things from down unda –

Melbourne
  • The. Coffee. It’s liquid velvet. I was over-caffeinated all weekend.
  • Street art. They love their graffiti and devote areas of the city to it. It’s hard not to be happy while surrounded by such vibrant colors.
Brisbane
  • Sunshine. It was sunny and 74 when I stepped off the plane. I only spent 22 hours here, but the palm trees alone made me happy.
  • One word: Brisvegas. That’s the city’s nickname. Statues are perched on large purple light boxes jazzing up the town.
Sydney
  • This is predictable, but the Sydney Opera House. I’ve seen pictures of it since I was a child, but seeing it in person is overwhelming. It’s massive and absolutely beautiful.
  • Koalas. My goal was to meet a koala while there, and I did. See me and Silvia below. She loves me.
Until next time!

Bright Future.

Finally, it is Spring and the sun is shining! Naturally, that means it’s time to pull out the short sleeves and…sunscreen! One of our biggest mistakes is not using proper sun protection. It’s the biggest step you can take to prevent aging and skin cancer. Here’s a sunscreen essentials checklist –

  • Broad-spectrum. This is one of the most important aspects of a sunscreen. Broad-spectrum simply means that it protects against both UVA and UVB rays. UVA rays cause aging and UVB rays cause burning.
  • Reapply. For all day protection, it’s essential to reapply sunscreen. It won’t last all day through sweat and day-to-day activity.
  • Use sunscreen year round. Even on cloudy days, up to 40% of the sun’s rays reach the Earth, so no skipping!

Now that we’ve covered the basics, allow me to introduce our NEW SPF 30 Face Moisturizer! It’s a broad-spectrum, lightweight moisturizer that also serves as a makeup primer or aftershave. It’s formulated with Vitamins E, A, B, C, & D to hydrate and green tea anti-oxidants to protect against environmental damage.

Meet ya at the park!

Spring has sprung!

Spring has finally arrived, unlike those lucky enough to live in LA and enjoy sunshine and mild temperatures since January, we New Yorkers are just now experiencing highs in the 50s. That means it’s time to open up the windows, box up the wool sweaters and brunch al fresco. As much as I hate cleaning, there’s something about the warmer temperatures that makes me pull out the vacuum and rearrange my bedroom. I’ve already switched my Cannabis Candle for the Geranium Leaf and put my Rose Hand+Body Wash at all of my sinks. I’ve decided to start checking things off my Springtime-to-do list. Here’s some of what I am hoping to tackle this Spring –

The Cloisters.

Art in the park = Perfect Saturday. Enough said.

The Frying Pan.

Full disclosure, this is one of my favorite bars and I go multiple times a year. This boozy boat reminds me of being back home in the South and they serve ice cold beer in buckets. Ah, I can already feel the breeze on my face.

Central Park Canoe.

I’m disappointed that I’ve never tackled this activity before. I love being near the water and I love canoeing, so this Spring I will finally partake in this must-do activity. Wish me luck, I am also a klutz.

Help me out with some more fun outdoor activities. What are y’all’s Spring plans?
