It’s no secret that we at MALIN+GOETZ have a great love for the tried, tested and true ingredients used in traditional apothecary preparations. At the same time, we always keep an eye out for advanced technologies and cutting-edge ingredients that can be used to innovate new formulations. One such ingredient is meadowfoam seed oil, a lightweight yet incredibly nourishing oil that – up until now – has mostly slipped under the radar.
Extracted from the seeds of the meadowfoam flower, a plant native to Oregon, meadowfoam seed oil has a composition similar to the natural oils and sebum found on skin, allowing it to absorb quickly and provide long-lasting hydration without leaving any heavy residue behind. It has also been found to be rich in omega-6 and omega-9 fatty acids, essential fatty acids which can aid skin in retaining moisture and maintaining elasticity, as well as the antioxidant powerhouse vitamin E. The combination of these nourishing compounds make meadowfoam seed oil exceptionally good at moisturizing, protecting and soothing, as well as suitable for even the most sensitive skin.

After we first started formulating with meadowfoam seed oil and began to experience its benefits, we knew we had to harness its powers and put them on display in an even bigger way. Enter our newest innovation and one of our most unique products to date – meadowfoam oil balm.
Combining meadowfoam seed oil with other plant-based oils and butters known for their skin-soothing abilities, such as jojoba, avocado and safflower, we created the perfect creamy balm that would melt into a dry oil when warmed by the body's natural heat. To amplify the product's skin-protecting abilities even further, we added linoleic and linolenic acids for a boost of omega-6 and omega-9 protection, and the adaptogenic ashwagandha root extract for its antioxidant properties.
